Daily Spinner Reward System to Encourage Punctuality in Pathshala Classes for Young Kids
Problem Addressed
In our offline and online Pathshala for young kids, many students frequently arrived late to class. Since the sessions were free of cost, punctuality was not taken seriously by the children or their parents. Traditional reminders and discussions about discipline had limited impact, and we needed a fun, motivating way to build the habit of coming on time.
Solution
To make punctuality exciting and rewarding, we introduced a Daily Spinner activity. Every day, we wrote down the names of students who arrived before or on time. At the start of the class, we spun the wheel, and whichever student’s name appeared received a small gift. This simple activity turned punctuality into a game that children looked forward to. The idea of possibly winning a reward created excitement, and students began making an effort to be punctual. Over time, attendance and timeliness improved noticeably, driven by motivation rather than enforcement.
Implementation Guide

- Keep adding the names of all students who arrived on or before the class start time.
2. Explain the Rules:
- Tell students that only those who are on time will have their names on the spinner.
- Emphasize that the spinner will be used at the end of every class. Names will be removed for those who leave early.
3. Run the Activity Daily:
- Spin the wheel in front of everyone at the start of the class.
- Announce the winner and give a small gift (like stationery, stickers, or a small treat).
4. Maintain Consistency:
- Continue the practice regularly so students know punctuality is recognized and valued.
- Keep changing gifts to keep interest alive.
5. Encourage Reflection:
- Praise all on-time students, not just the winner.
- Reinforce the message that coming on time is an important part of learning and respect.
